Models in Hijab Creat History at New York Fashion Week
Muslim designer Anniesa Hasibuan has made history with her runway show at New York Fashion Week.
Hasibuan decided to have every one of her models wear a hijab on the catwalk – and while models have worn headscarves at NYFW in the past, this is the first time that every model in a show has.
As well as that, it’s also the first time an Indonesian designer has had a show at the event.
Her collection came as a welcome addition at a time when Muslim women’s choice of clothing has been under such intense scrutiny. Hasibuan received a standing ovation at the end of her show, with many calling her decision a historic moment.
